About Ivey Ranch PTO

What is the PTO?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. We are an organization made up of parents and families who work with the teachers and staff at Ivey Ranch Elementary to support the students and the school.

How can I get involved?
There are a lot of different ways for you to get involved. If you’re looking to volunteer for a specific event, please check our “Get Involved” page for current opportunities. If you’re looking to join the PTO Board of Directors, you can find open positions (with descriptions) on our “Executive Board” page. Additionally, we would love to have you join us at our monthly meetings typically held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:00pm in room K1 (we also post reminders in the monthly newsletter). And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

In what ways does the PTO help the school?
Each year, the PTO sponsors a variety of fundraisers. Money raised during these events is used to support school programs and events, as well as enhance school quality. They are also a great way to help foster community involvement. More specifically, the funds are used for enhancements in the classrooms, curriculum, student recognition, and playground equipment that otherwise would not be possible.

How does the PTO raise money?
We raise money through a variety of fundraisers during the school year. Our biggest fundraiser is our annual Apex Fun Run in the spring. The Apex Fun Run teaches our students teamwork, leadership skills, and to embrace an active lifestyle.

We also work directly with local restaurants and host monthly dine-out nights. The businesses we collaborate with donate a portion of their sales that night to the Ivey Ranch PTO. Flyers are typically sent home with the students as a reminder but are also usually required at the time of purchase in order for those sales to count. Keep an eye on your student’s weekly folder for more information.

Do I have to be on the Board of Directors to be considered a member of the PTO?
No. To be a member of the PTO, you only need to purchase the membership. This membership gives you voting privileges when it comes time to nominate and vote for the Board. It also provides an opportunity for you to participate on committees and have a strong voice at the meetings you attend.

How can I volunteer for PTO committees?
Come and join us at our monthly meetings or send an email to [email protected]. We will get you all the information you need for the committee you’re looking to join.

How can I become a PTO Board Member or Committee Chairperson?
Each spring PTO members elect Board Members for the upcoming school year. Board positions are posted on the PTO website. If you would like additional information about available positions, please check the “Executive Board” page or ask another member of the Board.

I would like to help but I’m not sure what to do. Are there specific ways to help without becoming a board member?
Yes! We love parents to join us at meetings and share their thoughts. There are lots of ways to get involved and you can find current opportunities on our “Get Involved” page.

What if I have more questions?
Please come join us at our next PTO meeting (the third Wednesday of each month). You can find the exact date and time on our Calendar. We would love to talk to you, learn more about how you would like to participate, and help with all of your questions.
